My paintings are not of vague or abstract state. They are precise creatures that seek to perform definitive and decisive gestures. Their starting point is the tangible world. I collaborate with images and shapes, as if they were another living being. A small bit or essence of reality is taken from the world around me.
My paintings merge together different aspects of landscape, still life, and portrait. I live and work within two environments including Korea and the United States. The two environments differ in their meaning and symbolic expressions due to differences in philosophy and history. My work attempts to blend the two together in a natural and harmonious way.
