I am a Painter, Calligrapher and Bookbinder living in Surrey in a quiet village. I have allways been involved in the 'Arts' one way or another. After leaving college in the mid seventies I went into Graphic Design, which lead me into Exhibition and Interior Design, culminating in my own Partnership. I have allways been interested in the 'Spirit' of Humanity and entered a Benedictine monastery. In the years I was there i was introduced to Bookbinding. Although monasticism is a wonderful vocation for the right person it was not for me.Since leaving in 1989 I have for the majority of the time worked freelance in painting, calligraphy and bookbinding along with some teaching in adult education which has been an inspiration. I love colour, shapes, texture along with detail in both painting and calligraphy. If I am working on a piece with colour and texture then often strong chiaroscuro and lively brush strokes will come into play, if the composition is quiet then fine detail may dominate, the subject may be a botanical or miniature. I enjoy working with many subjects. It is in the 'Act' of being 'Creative' I meet my God.
